Lovejoy Homestead Description
The Owen Lovejoy Homestead was built in 1837 as a farm house. Between 1970 and 1972 the home was restored and a new concrete block foundation was added. Some original family furnishings are on display as well as a document room with photos and copies of Lovejoy's speeches and letters.

Owen Lovejoy came to Princeton in 1838 to assume the ministry of the Hampshire Colony Congregational Church. His home was one of the most important stations on the Underground Railroad in Illinois.
