Porterville - Sequoia National Forest
Sequoia National Forest is located at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada. The forest covers more than a million acres and features giant sequoias, the Kern Plateau and several lakes.
There are campgrounds and most outdoor sporting activities including fishing, rock climbing and skiing.

Balch Park
Balch Park in Sequoia National Forest is a 160 acre park located 32 miles east of Porterville. At 6,325 feet above ground stands a beautiful sequoia grove. Two small stocked ponds are in the park.
Boyden Caverns
The Boyden Caverns is located in the Kings River Canyon in Sequoia National Forest, two hours from Freno. Guided tours are offered showing the visitor the draperies and stalagmites. The tours are approximately 45 minutes in duration.

Temperature is 55F, so a sweater or jacket is advised. Please be aware that to get to Boyden Cavern, you must drive into Sequoia National Park where the National Park Service charges each vehicle $20. This fee is not associated with Boyden Cavern. You will still have to pay an admission price at the cavern.

Lake Isabella
Lake Isabella was formed in 1953 when the Army Corps of Engineers built dams on the Kern River. The 11,200 acre lake offers fishing and water sports.
