Portage la Prairie - Island Park (Crescent Lake)

Island Park and Crescent Lake Nature Reserve in Portage La Prairie, with its horseshoe-shaped lake, are also worth a visit to see the deer and waterfowl, including the large colony of captive Canada geese.

Island Park also has a little zoo, a golf course, tennis courts and picnic sites, as well as canoeing and swimming facilities. The monument to Arthur Meighen commemorates this son of Portage La Prairie who was elected Canada's Prime Minister in 1920.

During the Christmas season Island Park puts on a fabulous display of Christmas lights known as the "Island of Lights".
