Description
Built in 1906-7 in Renaissance style, the impressive red building now serves the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago. It is capped with a large square dome. The original assembly building on the site was destroyed by fire in 1801. A second was rebuilt 1844-48 but again gutted during the 1903 water riots.

The current structure dominates Woodford Square which is also the site of the courts, library (1901) and town hall on the north and Holy Trinity Cathedral on the south. The square is noted for its large Pink Poui trees which flower in March and April.
Tips
Those wishing to view the interior may attend a sitting session of the house or senate, but proper attire is required.
Photography is best in the morning.
