Drake House Description
Isaac Drake built the Drake House in 1746 as a home for his son, Nathaniel. George Washington consulted with his officers during and after The Battle of Short Hills, fought over the entire Plainfield area on June 25-27, 1777. The home was purchased in 1864 and had many architectural changes in accordance with current Victorian tastes.

Three Colonial era rooms--the kitchen, the Queen Anne dining room, and the Washington bedroom are highlights of Drake House. The collections on display include costumes, historical books, photos, prints, and paintings.
