Pittsburgh - Bessemer Court at Station Square
In the Mount Washington district on the north bank of the Monongahela River, between Smithfield Street Bridge and Fort Pitt Station Square Bridge, is Station Square, once occupied by railway yards but now an elegant shopping centre. Near Smithfield Bridge is the Bessemer Court open-air museum, which is devoted to the city's industrial history and includes among the exhibits a 10-ton Bessemer steel hammer of 1930.
A riverside walk along the southern end of the Smithfield Street Bridge will yield a 10-ton Bessemer converter (from 1930), a 25-ton ingot mold, the sternwheel of the Jason (a 1940 steam-powered towboat) and other relics from Pittsburgh's industrial past.
