National Museum
A little jewel, Phimai's National Museum is to be found on the right in front of the bridge across the Menam Mun at the town's north-west exit. The exhibits are displayed in the open air and include, most importantly, marvelously sculptured lintels from local Khmer temples and portraits of Buddha, including one which shows Buddha underneath the unnatural shell of a seven-headed naga. The plinth forms the ringed body of the snake. This style is typical of Khmer sculpture.
