Description
The Gippsland Lakes are Australia's largest system of inland waterways, with a total area of 400sq.km. This complex of lakes, rivers and canals offers endless scope for water sports and angling. Into this area flow the rivers Latrobe, Avon, Perry, Mitchell, Nicholson and Tambo. The lakes - Lake Wellington, Lake Victoria, Lake King and Lake Reeve - are separated from the sea by a long narrow strip of sand-dunes, the best known stretch of which is Ninety Mile Beach.
