Philadelphia - Germantown Historical Society Museum

Germantown Historical Society's museum and library chronicle the history of the Germantown section of Philadelphia. The museum has more than 50,000 objects, documents and photographs: high style and everyday furniture from seventeenth-century German trunks to Colonial highboys and tall case clocks, Victorian chairs and Peale paintings. There are also spinning wheels, sausage grinders, Chinese export and Tucker china, fireplace tools, quilts, coverlets, and bedspreads dating from the eighteenth-century, as well as hundreds of varieties of needlework. The Society's costume collection is comprised of more than 8,000 pieces of clothing for every age and sex.
