Philadelphia - Franklin Court
Concealed between Chestnut and Market Streets is Franklin Court, in which Benjamin Franklin once lived. In one of the reconstructed houses is a museum devoted to the life and work of the great statesman, inventor and journalist.
Franklin Court contains the Benjamin Franklin Underground Museum, the United States Postal Service Museum and The Franklin Print Shop, and the Franklin Museum, plus the 54-foot high steel skeleton "Ghost Structure" designed by Robert Venturi. In the court itself once stood Franklin's house. His museum displays paintings, objects, and inventions associated with him, while the postal museum includes the Pony Express pouches and originals of Franklin's Pennsylvania Gazette. The Printing Office demonstrates eighteenth-century printing and binding equipment given by Park Services rangers.
