Pest - Roosevelt Square

(Local Name: Roosevelt tér) The large square at the Pest end of Chain Bridge commemorates the former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. At the beginning of the last century markets were held here and Danube freighters discharged their cargoes. On the northern side of the square stands a memorial to Count István Széchenyi by J. Engel (1880), and on the south side is one to Ferenc Deák by A. Huszár (1882).
