Petofi Square Description
(Local Name: Petõfi tér) Petõfi tér (Petõfi Square) is named after the great Hungarian lyric poet Sándor Petõfi. The bronze Petõfi monument in the square is by Adolf Huszár (1882).

On the east side of Petõfi tér stands the three-aisled Greek church (Ortodox Egyházi templom), erected in 1789 and rebuilt in the 19th C to plans by the famous architect Ybl. Inside this large church are fine works of art by Nikolaus Jankovits, Anton Kochmeister and others.
