Chiclayo Attractions

Chiclayo is about 200km / 120 mi north of Trujillo and is one of the major cities on the North Coast. There is an airport here with regular flights to Lima and north to Piura. Chiclayo is closely associated with neighboring Lambayeque, which used to be the main city in the area before Chiclayo expanded.

Many visitors come here to visit the nearby archeological site of Sipán. There are some smaller sites in the area as well which can be visited on day trips from Chiclayo. The city itself is relatively modern but does have some nice areas for sightseeing and relaxing. The Plaza de Armas and the Chiclay Cathedral are good places to start touring the city. Directly south from here is the Paseo de las Musas, a beautiful open park with classical statues.
