York Attractions

York, to the south of Harrisburg, was for 90 days capital of the thirteen colonies when Congress was compelled to flee from Philadelphia. In the Colonial Court House (now a reconstruction) the Articles of Confederation, the founding document of the Union, were adopted in 1777. There are a number of other historic spots in the town. For visitors interested in more modern achievements there is the Harley Davidson motorcycle factory with its museum.
Agricultural and Industrial Museum
The Agricultural and Industrial Museum is housed in a building that was built in 1889. It operated as a farmer's market until 1947, when Sears and Roebuck turned it into a farm equipment warehouse. Exhibits feature potato farming implements, plowing and cultivating displays, a farm machine shop and automobile displays.
