Thompson-Neely House Description
This house is an example of early eighteenth-century colonial architecture. In 1776, the home of Robert and Hannah Thompson on Pidcock Creek became the headquarters of General Lord Stirling (William Alexander), who commanded the troops stationed along the Delaware to prevent a British crossing. General Stirling and his staff spent nearly the entire month of December here. Nearby stand the Thompson-Neely Barn and various outbuildings.
