Meadville Attractions
In 1778 the first settlers arrived at the present site of Meadville. It became a major center of settlement, government, business and industry from the turn of the 19th century to the early 20th century.
Allegheny College was founded in 1815 and is one of the oldest colleges west of the Allegheny Mountains. The campus has a number of buildings constructed in the 19th century.
Baldwin-Reynolds House was once the home of a U.S. Supreme Court Justice and two mayors of Meadville. Today this historic four-story house museum is open to the public.
The Baldwin-Reynolds House is furnished in period, and houses tools, costumes and other artifacts. Adjacent to it is a 19th-century doctor's office.
