Located at the site of Fort Reed, Lock Haven became a major lumber center during the 19th century. Outdoor activities include fishing, hiking, boating and biking.
The Heisey Museum is located in a restored two-story Victorian house, built about 1831. Period rooms are filled with furnishings and local memorabilia.

Piper Aviation Museum is dedicated to the history of Piper Aircraft and American aviation in general. Exhibits include aircraft and aircraft equipment as well as an archives collection of corporate and family records, flight journals and magazines, photographs, and memorabilia.
