In Bird in Hand, 7 miles / 11 km east of Lancaster, is a well known Farmers' Market (Wednesday to Saturday in summer), at which the Amish People and Mennonites offer their produce for sale.
Abe's Buggy Rides offers two-mile tours featuring Amish farms, a one room schoolhouse and guides that assist visitors in understanding the Amish lifestyle.
Americana Museum takes visitors back to the early 20th century. Exhibits include a barber shop, millinery, woodworking shop, tea parlor, toy store, print shop, blacksmith shop, tobacco shop, apothecary, wheelwright/wainwright shop, and a country general store. Life from 1890-1930 is highlighted.

The Old Village Store is said to be one of the oldest hardware stores in the country. The store remains much the same as it was in the 1890's with checkerboards and a potbellied stove.
Visitors can experience an authentic one-room schoolhouse that was in use for over 100 years until 1969. Original blackboards, wooden desks and bell are still on display.
