Bagatelle Gardens Description
Among particularly attractive features of this enchanted park - Bagatelle Park - are Lord Seymour's Blue Gate (mid 19th century), the orangery with its evergreen plants, a Japanese water garden and the most northerly of the four ponds with its display of water lilies. The site of the old manège is now occupied by a marvelous rose-garden laid out by Jean-Claude Forestier in 1906. An international competition for new varieties of roses is held here annually in June. Finally there is a beautiful English style garden with pleasant quiet footpaths designed by the Scottish gardener Thomas Blaik.
