Paranaguá - Colonial Buildings

Colonial buildings

In the old town the finest colonial buildings, both in the Rua da Praia, are the 18th century Casa do Monsenhor Celso, now occupied by the municipal department of culture, and the Palácio do Visconde de Nácar (1856), now the Town Hall.

Other fine colonial buildings are the Cathedral of Nossa Senhora do Rosário, in the town center, and the churches of São Benedito (1710; to the south-west) and São Francisco das Chagas. All three are protected as national monuments.
