At Lempa village, five kilometers from Paphos, excavations have brought to light an important settlement of the Chalcolithic period.
The Lemba Archeological Site is one of the oldest on the island. Neolithic houses have been found here. The houses are circular, with a diameter of eight-and-a-half meters and made of mud and reeds. The roofs were conical and supported by poles planted in the center of the structures. Various stone and bone tools were found inside the houses. The excavators also found a grave with the bodies of 20 children.
Replicas of two houses have been constructed near the site.
