Palo Alto - Cantor Center for the Visual Arts

The Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Center for the Visual Arts offers a wide range of art in 24 galleries and outdoor sculpture gardens. The Center's collections span 4000 years, from ancient Egyptian and Chinese to contemporary art. Of outstanding importance are the Asian art collection (which has now grown to 7,000 exhibits, only a fraction of which can actually be displayed), and the Egyptian department.

Must-see attractions nearby:
An important collection of Indian funerary objects, many examples of Cypriot sculpture and, more recently, numerous European works of art from the last two centuries, form the highlights of this important university museum.

Also worth seeing is the sculpture garden, laid out only in recent years on the south side of the museum, devoted exclusively to bronzes by the French sculptor Auguste Rodin - 20 works in all - including the "Gates of Hell", the group-sculpture "Adam and Eve", "The Spirit of Eternal Rest" and several male figures.
