Palermo - Piazza della Rivoluzione
Leaving the churches on the Piazza Bellini and proceeding westward through Via Alloro the visitor will see the little Piazza della Rivoluzione on the far side of Via Roma, where Via Garibaldi begins. The name of the square reminds us that it was here that the revolt against the Bourbons began in 1848, and Garibaldi made his first appearance in Palermo in 1860. On the square will be seen the fountain with what is known as the "Genio di Palermo", the city's emblem.
