Palermo - La Madonna della Pietà
In 1678-84 the Dominican architect Andrea Cirincione built La Madonna della Pietà in Palermo near the Palazzo Abatellis for the Dominican nuns. The two-storyed facade of high pillars in the Romo-Baroque style is the work of Giacomo Amato. The single-naved interior is rich in stucco decoration by Giacomo, Giuseppe and Procopio Serpotta. The large ceiling fresco portraying "Glory of the Dominican Order" is by Antonino Grano (1708).
