Oxford - Radcliffe Square

North of St Mary's is Radcliffe Square, surrounded by university buildings, mainly grouped on the north side of the square. The Old Schools Quadrangle dates from 1613 to 1618 and is on the site of an earlier building.

Divinity School
The Divinity School dates from 1426 to 1480. It possesses a notable ceiling, which was restored by Wren. Charles I's Parliament met here during the Civil War.
Sheldonian Theatre
In Cattle Street, a short distance to the north of Radcliffe Square, is the Sheldonian Theatre, Sir Christoper Wren's second major building, built in 1664-69, although its windows have been altered since then. The theater is used on the occasion of the annual Commemoration or Encaenia in the middle of June, when benefactors of the university are honored and honorary degrees and prizes are conferred.
