3km/2mi from the town center on Queimada Hill, near Padre Faria's chapel, are the ruins of the Arraial de Ouro Podre. In the immediate surroundings are a number of 18th century chapels. On the Morro da Piedade (3km/2mi from the town center in the direction of Mariana) is the Capela de Nossa Senhora da Piedade (1720). The chapel of São João Batista de Ouro Fino (4km/2.5mi) dates from 1698; São Sebastião, on the hill of the same name, from 1753; the Capela do Bom Jesus das Flores, in Taquaral (3km/2mi), from 1748. The chapel of Sant'Ana, on the hill of that name, is also 18th century.
