Almonte is a small town just outside of Ottawa, known for once being home to Robert Tait McKenzie and as being the childhood home of Dr. James Naismith, inventor of basketball. The town is situated along the Mississippi River in the beautiful Ottawa Valley.
Almonte - Mill of Kintail Conservation Area
The Mill of Kintail Conservation Area dates from 1830 and was restored in 1930 by Robert Tait Mckenzie who used it as a studio and summer home. The mill is now a museum filled with McKenzie's belongings and sculptures.
