National Museum of Natural History Description
Since 1989 the National Museum of Natural Sciences has occupied the beautiful building that was the National Museum of Man (now in Hull, Canadian Museum of Civilization), on the southern rim of downtown Ottawa. The museum traces the earth's geology and the making of seas and continents, focusing particularly on North American aspects such as meteor strikes, mineral deposits, etc. Highlights include the dinosaurs found in the Alberta Badlands, and there are wildlife dioramas showing North American and mammals such as Arctic musk oxen, moose from eastern Canada and grizzly bears from British Columbia, as well as birds of Canada and the distribution of the country's flora and fauna.
