Ottawa - Château Laurier

An ornate building, with the air of a medieval castle but actually built in 1912, the Château Laurier, at the upper end of the canal locks, is a prime example of the grand hotels built by the big Canadian railroad companies, which is what it still is today.

Visitors don't need to stay at the Fairmont Château Laurier to appreciate this imposing building. It is a striking landmark.
