Osor - Church of the Assumption
On the main square in Osor stands the 15th Century Church of the Assumption. The façade boasts a Renaissance portal with a carved relief of the Virgin Mary. The interior of the Church of the Assumption contains a baroque altar as well as a collection of 16th and 17th paintings. There is also a picture of St Gaudenicius, an 11th Century Bishop who is at the center of an elaborate legend.

Although there are several version of the legend the bishop is ultimately given credit for removing all the snakes from Cres Island.
Also located on the main square in Osor is a sculpture by Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic and the 15th Century Town Hall (Gradska Vijecnica). This sculpture, as well as others in Osor, are related to music. During the summer months the town hosts performances by musicians from around Croatia, some of which are held at the Church of the Assumption.
