Osa Peninsula & Dulce Gulf - Zancudo Beach

(Local Name: Playa Zancudo) Zancudo Beach is found on the south side of the mouth of the Coto Colorado River. The beach is 6km/3.7mi with dark sand and is very popular with Costa Ricans. Several accommodations and dining options are available along the beach.

Zancudo Beach offers the best swimming in the Southern Dulce Gulf area. The beach and bay offer attractive vistas and surfing is good at the far south end. Wildlife can be seen at the mangroves near the river estuary, including otters, crocodiles, monkeys and birds. Popular activities at Zancudo Beach are kayaking, horseback riding and sportfishing and wildlife watching along the river.
