Medford (pop. 70,000) was founded in 1883. It is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding attractions such as Crater Lake, Rogue River National Forest and the Oregon Caves. It is also a good area for fishing. The area features several covered bridges, one of which is still open to traffic.
