Jacksonville Attractions
The small town of Jacksonville (pop. 2,200) is located in southwestern Oregon. It was founded when gold was discovered in the area in 1851. The town still maintains a number of 19th century buildings and offers recreational and cultural activities for visitors, particularly during the summer months.
The Beekman Bank in Jacksonville was built in the mid 1800's and was Oregon's second bank. Following the death of its founder, C.C. Beekman in 1915, the bank was closed. The interior remains the same as it did in the 1800's.
The Children's Museum in Jacksonville is located next to the Jacksonville Museum in the old town jail. It features displays related to American Indians and the early settlers.

The Museum of Southern Oregon History is housed in the courthouse which was built in 1883. The museum offers displays related to the area's history from its gold mining days to the present.
