Edisto Memorial Gardens Description
In 1865, Confederate soldiers held the land containing the Edisto Memorial Gardens against an advance of the Union Army until outflanked by a much larger force, when they withdrew to Columbia. A fountain honors those who gave their lives in WWI, WWII, Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict.

The garden was developed in the 1920's with some azaleas on five acres of land. Today, there are more than 50 beds of roses on more than 150 acres of land.
