Jeseniky Mountains Hruby Jesenik

The Jeseniky Mountains (Hruby Jesenik) in the northwest of Northern Moravia are a rugged range containing the highest peak in Moravia, known as Praded. This area, near the border with Poland, is great for outdoor enthusiasts with walking and hiking trails to explore during the summer months and crossing country skiing in the winter. Some of the trails have huts along the routes making overnight treks an easy option.

The Hruby Jesenik Protected Landscape Region (Chranena krajinna oblast Hruby Jesenik) is located in this area and protects the wildlife that inhabits this area, such as deer and boar. There are also some spa resorts located within the Jeseniky Mountains and the town of Hruby Jesenik.

Karlova Studanka
The spa town of Karlova Studanka in the Jeseniky Mountains was built in the late 18th Century. The town is built around a number of cold springs, considered therapeutic for their high levels of iron. Karlova Studanka is a favorite spa town with travelers to this area. The town is beautifully laid out with wide streets, parks and gardens, and wooden architecture. For visitors interested it making their way up the Praded, the highest peak in Moravia, Karlova Studanka makes an excellent base. For the less adventurous outdoor lover, there are also waterfalls and rivers to explore in the surrounding area.
Lazne Jesenik
Outside of the town of Jesenik is the spa resort town of Lazne Jesenik. Established in the early 19th Century, Lazne Jesenik is a pleasant place to spend a day or two. The spa is centered around a number of natural springs that are scattered throughout the area. There are pleasant walking trails, as well as beautiful parks and natural areas surrounding the town. The extraordinary mountain setting adds to the splendid atmosphere as do some of the beautiful early 20th Century buildings. Lazne Jesenik can also serve as a good base for exploring the Jeseniky Mountains.
