Old Goa - Se Cathedral

 
The Se Cathedral is the largest church in Old Goa, it is dedicated to St Catherine because Alfonso de Albuquerque conquered Goa on her feast day in 1510. The Se Cathedral was completed in 1619 however the altars were not finished until 1652.

The style of the Cathedral is Portugese-Gothic with a Tuscan exterior and a Corinthian interior. Se Cathedral has a central nave, four chapels along the aisles and a double-vaulted ceiling. The main altar is decorated with panels depicting scenes from St Catherine's life and martyrdom.

The remaining tower houses the famous Golden Bell, one of the largest in Goa, named for its rich sound.
