Weatherford Attractions
Weatherford is the hometown of astronaut Thomas P. Stafford, commander of the Apollo 10 mission and the Apollo-Soyuz project. Weatherford is also home to Southwestern Oklahoma State University and one of the largest wind energy farms in Oklahoma.
The Stafford Air & Space Center in Weatherford is a tribute to General Thomas Stafford's military and aeronautical career. In 1965, General Stafford was the pilot of Gemini VI, which was the first rendezvous in space.
Displays at the museum include space suits worn by Stafford on four space missions, aircraft models and photographs taken during the Apollo 10 mission.
