The small town of Vermillion is a great place to escape for a wonderful weekend away. The town features comfortable accommodation, fine restaurants, and a variety of activities to keep you as busy as you want. Vermillion features a nice beach, a restored downtown with some interesting 19th and 20th Century buildings along with the wonderful Exchange Park. The Inland Seas Maritime Museum in Vermilion is located in the historic Harbor View Home, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is run by the Great Lakes Historical Society. A replica of the 1877 Vermilion Lighthouse was donated to the historical society and erected on the property. Some of the items on display at the Inland Seas Maritime Museum are a large collection of model ships, nautical equipment and artwork, information on ship building and shipwrecks of the Great Lakes.
