Troy Attractions

Troy is located in the heart of Miami County. The city has several interesting museums including the Overfield Tavern Museum, the Museum of Troy History, and The WACO Museum & Aviation Learning Center.

While in downtown Troy watch for the Miami County Courthouse, built in the 1880s. Other points of interest around Troy are the historic Eldean Covered Bridge built in 1860, and the modern Fletcher Covered Bridge. Nature lovers can stop by the Brukner Nature Center located along the Stillwater River.
Brukner Nature Center
The Brukner Nature Center in Troy is a 165 acre nature preserve focused on wildlife rehabilitation and educational programs. Trails run through the Brukner Nature Center allowing visitors to see a variety of natural habitats. On site is an Interpretive Building, a wildlife rehabilitation unit for orphaned or injured animals, and an historic 1804 log home.

The center is named for Clayton Brukner who bought this property in 1933.

Overfield Tavern
The Overfield Tavern, building in the early 19th century, is now the Overfield Tavern Museum. The building has been restored to its former glory and has been furnished largely with period furniture. The Overfield Tavern provides a good example of architecture from that time period.

Troy-Hayner Cultural Center
The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center in Troy is an arts center with changing exhibits throughout the year. The center hosts a variety of events, including performing arts, public speakers, seminars and workshops, as well as other education programs.

The building that houses the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is a 1914 mansion that once belonged to Mary Jane Hayner. She willed her home to the Troy City Schools and it was eventually turned into this space for art and education.
