Milan Attractions

The town of Milan is probably most famous for being the birthplace of Thomas Edison. It is also a historic city that was once an important canal port. The Town Square is a delightful area with restored buildings that now house restaurants and antique shops.

One of the town's annual events is the Milan Melon Festival, held on the Labor Day weekend in the Town Square. Also of interest is the Mid Summer Antiques Fest held each July, and the Settlers Days when the museums open their doors to the public free of charge.
Edison Birthplace Museum
Visitors can tour the home of Thomas Alva Edison, famous for his invention of the incandescent light bulb and the phonograph. The Edison Birthplace Museum in Milan displays many of Edison's early inventions and well as the family's personal items.

The old home has been fully restored and furnished in mid 19th Century style.
