The city of Maumee is located near Toledo. The town is blessed with an abundance of history and has done a good job of showcasing its interesting past. Wolcott House Museum Complex in Maumee contains a variety of 19th century buildings although the main focus is the Wolcott House. This mansion was built in the 1820s and 1830s. It began as a 1.5 story log house but over the years was expanded to the two story Federal style home that visitors see today. The Wolcott House is the only building that was originally built at this location in Maumee. The other historic buildings in the complex were brought here from other locations. Most of the buildings date to between the 1820s and early 1900s.
