Visitors to Massillon will want to walk through the city's historic district which has several buildings that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The old homes reveal some of the town's character but for more insight into the history of Massillon try visiting the Massillon Museum.
The pride and joy of the town is the Massillon Tigers football team.
The Massillon Museum is a great place to learn about the history of the area and see works by local artists. On display at the museum are collections of clothing and textiles, glassware and pottery, and household antiques. There is also a section on "the circus". Also of particular interest at Massillon Museum is the extensive collection of old photographs.
The museum has existed since 1933, although was originally called the Baldwin Museum.

The National Shrine of St. Dymphna in Massillon is dedicated to this patron saint of mental and nervous disorders. This holy shrine is located at the Heartland Behavioral Healthcare (formerly Massillon State Hospital). The National Shrine of St. Dymphna is a modern glass structure with a statue of St. Dymphna. There is also a chapel on site built in 1938.
The Ohio Society of Military History Museum in Massillon focuses on all aspects of Ohio's military history including a special tribute to all those who have served in the armed forces. There are uniforms, medals and photographs on display.
Spring Hill Historic Home in Massillon was built by Thomas and Charity Rotch in the 1820s. They were devout Quakers who raised sheep and were part of the Underground Railroad. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Spring Hill Historic Home is furnished in period and open to the public. The grounds are also impressive with a couple of sheds, gardens and nature trails.
