The Village of Grand Rapids is a great spot for a day trip. Located just south of Toledo, Grand Rapids is nestled on the banks of the Maumee River. Here visitors can stroll down the well-preserved and restored village streets, and experience what life would have been like in the 19th Century. Grand Rapids has a wonderful selection of unique shops and services sure to please any visitor.
The Isaac Ludwig Mill in Grand Rapids is an old Saw and Grist Mill, built in 1865. Today the mill is operational and works on water turbines and steam, and functions as a working museum. A visit to the mill takes visitors back to the turn of the 20th Century.
The Isaac Ludwig Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Toledo, Lake Erie and Western Railway Bluebird Passenger Train takes travelers on a one hour excursion through Northwest Ohio. The train passes historic buildings and tries to take visitors back to a time when the main means of transportation was by passenger trains. Service is seasonal and the train does not operate during the winter months.
