The Algonquin Mill Complex consists of a number of structures in a pioneer setting. The main focus is the steam powered mill but there is also a country store, a Log Stagecoach Inn, an antique print shop, and a farm house museum. One of the main events held by the Carol County Historical Society each year is the Annual Algonquin Mill Fall Festival. The festival always draws a large audience and is a fun event in this historical setting.

The McCook House Civil War Museum in Carrollton is operated by the Carroll County Historical Society. The family that owned this house was more commonly known as "the fighting McCooks", a name given to them because of their military service before and during the Civil War.
