Description
Forsythe Refuge's Brigantine and Barnegat Divisions were originally two distinct refuges, established in 1939 and 1967 respectively. The current Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge has more than 46,000 acres of coastal habitat for the protection of migratory birds. More than 322 species of birds have been sighted as the Refuge provides a resting and feeding habitat. Visitors can view the birds on an eight-mile drive through wetland and upland habitats, as well as two short-loop foot trails. Two observation towers and one observation deck are equipped with spotting scopes.
