Paramount Theater of the Arts
Anyone who happens to be in Oakland on the first or third Saturday in the month should not fail to visit the Paramount Theater of Arts, one of the last of the Art Deco cinema palaces remaining in the USA, where at 10 a.m. there are guided tours through the building which was designed by the architect Timothy L. Pflueger. The Oakland Symphony Orchestra now performs here.

Pardee Home Museum
The Pardee Home Museum in Oakland was built in 1868 and has displays on the life of the Pardee family who lived here for three generations. Original furnishings fill the house along with Mrs. Pardee's antiquities. The redwood carriage house has intact horse stalls, tack room, bins, and a stairway to the hayloft.

Preservation Park is located in Oakland's city center. This unique park includes 16 Victorian houses with restored facades, a park with Victorian benches and street lamps as well as a fountain near the Oakland Federal Building. Self-guided history and walking tours are available.
