Lyngenfjord

The Lyngenfjord is reached by leaving Tromsø on E 78, which runs southeast to Nordkjosbotn, and then turning east up the valley of the Nordkjoselv, through birch forests and between hills, to Øvergård.

After passing a side road on the right into the beautiful Signaldal (the valley of the Storfjordelv) the main road crosses the Skibotnelv and comes to a road junction at Olderbakken. E 6 continues north, hugging the eastern shore of the Lyngenfjord. From Skibotn there is a fine view of the west side of the fjord, with the glaciated peak of Jeggevarre beyond the Pollfjell.
