The first place on the Oslofjord proper is the port of Horten (pop. 28,000), with Karl Johansvern (Naval Museum), the main base of the Norwegian navy from 1940 until the end of the Second World War. In front of the museum is the "Rapp" (1872), the oldest torpedo boat in the world. The Preus Museum of Photography at Langgate 82 is the only one of
its kind in Norway. From Horten there is a car ferry (45 minutes) to Moss, on the east side of the fjord.
The surrounding water and natural areas make for ideal golfing, boating and fishing opportunities.
