Description
2km/1.25mi beyond Gol, where the Heslabru spans the Hemsila (waterfall), a tributary of the Hallingdalselv, Road 52 goes off on the right into the Hemsedal. It passes the new church of Gol, and in another 7km/4.5mi crosses the Robru. The valley now begins to open out. At Granheim (alt. 546m/1,791ft), 7km/4.5mi farther on, is the 550m/600yd-long Eikre dam, from which water is conveyed in a 15km/9-mi-long tunnel to the hydroelectric station at Gol. On the way to Ulsåk (alt. 609m/1,998ft) the road passes on the left the Helmensbru power station, which is supplied with water by a 14km/8.5-mi-long tunnel with a fall of 540m/1,770ft. View of the Veslehorn (1300m/4,265ft), on the east side of which is the Hydnefoss, a waterfall 140m/460ft high, and beyond it the Storehorn (1478m/4,849ft).

At Ulsåk a mountain road (toll) diverges on the right to Lykkja, passing the Skogshorn (1728m/5,670ft; two-three hours' climb). From Lykkja it is possible either to continue to Røn (48km/30mi) or to turn south to Fjellheim and Gol.
