Thásos - Sanctuaries of Poseidon (Dionysos)

In the northern part of the ancient city are sanctuaries of Poseidon and Dionysos (both fourth century B.C.), a theater (third-second century B.C.), a sanctuary devoted to foreign divinities and, at the northern tip of the city, a sanctuary of the Patrooi Theoi (sixth century B.C.). Farther north, in the sea, can be seen remains of the breakwater of the ancient commercial harbor. On another hill southwest of the Kástro are the foundations of a temple of Athena (fifth century B.C.; panoramic views), and on the rocky slopes of a third hill a niche belonging to a sanctuary of Pan.
